”It gives me great pleasure to announce that the 16th World Conference of Associated Research Centers for the Urban Underground Space (ACUUS 2018) will be held on 5 – 7 November 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
We are expecting well over 500 urban underground space experts and professionals coming from around the globe to Hong Kong to attend this important meeting. It is a 2.5 day conference with site visits to local underground solutions in the city where we should be starting to transfer one of our largest sewage treatment plant underground (Shatin Sewage Treatment works) as well as various other potential relocation projects. http://www.ststwincaverns.hk/index.php?lang=en
The theme of the conference is “Integrated Underground Solutions for Compact Metropolitan Cities” and will showcase how underground solutions make our cities more livable and sustainable.
Hong Kong has been struggling to keep up with the intensity of development and has a rich history of protecting our natural environment, balancing these two themes is very important to our citizens and underground solutions are likely to be prominent in the near future.
